About

Kris Powers, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP BD+C is the principal architect and owner of Powers Design Studio. She is a licensed architect in Hawaii with over twenty years of experience. Striving to exceed client expectations, she tackles the smallest details in search of the most beautiful solutions.

After earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech, she served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in The Gambia as an architecture professor. She then moved to Hawaii to continue her career as a professional architect. In 2018 she was awarded Pacific Business News’ 40 Under 40, recognizing the best and brightest young business leaders in Hawaii.

Kris draws inspiration from many styles and architects, but she is most influenced by Vladimir Ossipoff, a Hawaii modern architect, and Le Corbusier, a mid-century modern architect. She developed a strong appreciation for architecture through her travels, which includes all fifty states and over twenty countries. Her designs incorporate the culture, history, and landscape of Hawaii while providing modern comfortable spaces. She believes any vision can be made into a beautiful and innovative design.

Let’s create something beautiful together!
